How does the DocX document converter work?
The PandaDoc DocX converter is designed to translate your Microsoft Word files into a format that can be understood by the PandaDoc editor. Our online tools scan your document (in DocX format) and import any tables, fonts, headings, and document styles. While uploading, the document is added to the document library inside your PandaDoc account.
After the document is uploaded, you can make changes, duplicate it, or save it as a template for later reuse.
Does your DocX Converter handle other file formats and filetypes (TXT, RTF, MOBI, TIFF, PDF, PPT/PPTX, etc.)?
No. The DocX Converter is specifically designed as a Word converter and relies on the DOCX file extension to function.
The PandaDoc editor can import other file types, including any of the following:
- PDF (.pdf)
- Microsoft Word (.doc & .docx)
- Excel (.xls & .xlsx)
- PowerPoint (.ppt & .pptx)
- JPG (.jpg and .jpeg)
- PNG (.png)
While the PandaDoc editor can convert document formats from any of the listed sources, the ability to quickly markup and edit a document as soon as it completes the conversion process is exclusive to DocX files.
In some cases, such as JPG and PNG files, the editor only offers limited formatting options.
Are there any limitations on file size when using the PandaDoc DocX Converter?
The PandaDoc editor can handle documents up to 50 MB in size and up to 500 pages. If your Microsoft Word Document exceeds either limitation, you may encounter an error when using the DocX Converter.
Can I export signed documents?
Yes! If you import a DocX file and go through the digital signing process, your document will receive a legally binding e-signature from your recipient. This signed document can be downloaded as a PDF directly from our website.
You can also download a DocX version of the document after the signing process is complete, but it won’t include the signature. However, this version of your document will be available for editing in Microsoft Word.
How do I use the PandaDoc DocX Converter?
While we recently improved the conversion tool, you’ll follow the standard upload process when adding your DOCX files to PandaDoc.
You will need a paid PandaDoc account to get started. If you don’t have an account, sign up for a 14-day free trial to get started.
To use the online DocX Converter, log into your PandaDoc account, select “New Document” and drag your DOCX file into the upload window. When prompted to convert your document to an editable format, select “Yes, convert” and the upload tool will convert your DOCX file.
Additional details and instructions are available on this support page.
Does the DocX Converter work on any operating system?
Yes! Because PandaDoc is an online software tool, it works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. An internet connection is required, and all editing will take place in your web browser. No downloads are required (unless you’d like to download our mobile app for your smartphone).
