PandaTip: Especially with a car receipt, you want to be incredibly detailed to describe any scratches, non-functioning parts, or other defects as state laws often are very protective of purchasers for defects that were not disclosed prior to purchase. Even if it’s something simple as a button on the radio that doesn’t work, be sure to disclose it.

The Purchaser acknowledges receipt of the following items, as indicated by checkmark:

☐    Key

☐    Spare Key

☐    Door Code [NUMBER]

☐    Title, signed over by Seller

☐    Owner’s Manual

☐    Service History

☐    [OTHER]

PandaTip: While some of this section of the car receipt, such as the door code, may not apply to you, it is wise to denote everything that you have given to the purchaser of the car so there is no question later if they claim that they did not receive one thing or another.

The Purchaser has paid, and the seller confirms receipt of [WRITTEN DOLLAR AMOUNT] dollars ($[NUMERICAL DOLLAR AMOUNT]) as payment toward the vehicle described above. There is a balance of [WRITTEN DOLLAR AMOUNT] dollars ($[NUMERICAL DOLLAR AMOUNT]) remaining to complete the purchase. [WRITTEN DOLLAR AMOUNT] dollars ($[NUMERICAL DOLLAR AMOUNT]) is due and payable on or before [DATE].

The Purchaser and Seller both acknowledge receipt of the deposit being paid toward the vehicle as described herein and acknowledge that as of the date indicated, the entirety of the above is accurate.

PandaTip: Although in many cases, a receipt does not need to be signed by any party other than the party that received the money, there are acknowledgements herein that are important to defending the Seller’s rights should there be a dispute at a later date and thus, both parties should sign this car receipt.
