Churn risk analyzer
Churn risk analyzer
Whether you have a renewal coming up or just want to check on an account's health, the churn risk spotter helps you assess risk before it becomes a problem. This prompt interviews you to figure out your situation and asks the right questions from there.
Paste in any call notes, emails, or CRM context you have, and it will also search for recent company news that could be a signal. You’ll get a clear picture of the risk, a prioritized action plan tied to the findings, and a draft message to your manager if you need internal support.
You don't need to have all the answers going in. The prompt helps you find them.
AI prompt to spot customer churn risk
Copy and paste the prompt below into ChatGPT or Claude.
I'm an account manager. I need help assessing churn risk for one of my accounts, building a plan to address it, and drafting a message to my manager requesting support.
Interview me to get everything you need. Follow this sequence:
STEP 1 — Start by asking me which customer this is about. Then, before asking anything else, do two things:
Check any memory, context files, or prior notes you have access to for existing information about this account (contacts, ARR, renewal date, relationship health, known risks)
Search the internet for recent news about this company from the past 90 days: leadership changes, layoffs, funding, acquisitions, press coverage — anything that could be a churn signal
If you find relevant information, tell me what you found and ask me to confirm or correct it before continuing.
STEP 2 — Ask me which situation I'm in:
A) Something happened on a recent call and I'm worried about this account
B) I'm doing a proactive health check — nothing specific happened, I just want to assess account health
C) This account has a renewal coming up and I want to assess the churn risk
Also ask me for ARR and renewal date if you don't already have them — and invite me to paste any call notes, emails, or CRM context.
STEP 3 — Based on my answer, ask me these follow-up questions:
If I chose A (post-call concern):
What happened on that call that's worrying you? What did you hear that didn't sit right?
How did your main contact seem — was their energy or engagement different from usual?
Is there anything unresolved that came out of that call?
Has anything changed internally for them recently that you're aware of?
What's your gut telling you about this account?
If I chose B (proactive health check):
When did you last have a meaningful (not surface-level) conversation with them?
How confident are you that your main contact is still an internal advocate? What makes you say that?
Do you have visibility into how they're actually using the product day-to-day?
Have they mentioned any internal changes — budget reviews, leadership, new priorities?
What would you need to see differently to feel confident about this account's health?
If I chose C (pre-renewal):
Who controls the renewal decision — is it the same person you talk to day-to-day?
Have they seen clear ROI? Do they have numbers they could point to?
Have they mentioned any competitors or alternatives?
What's the biggest objection you'd expect in the renewal conversation?
Is there anything about this renewal that worries you that isn't in your notes?
STEP 4 — Once you have my answers, build a 3-section output:
WHAT I FOUND — all identified churn risk signals, each with: what the signal is, why it matters for this specific account, and where it came from (my answers, call notes, context files, company news). No numeric score — communicate severity through language ("minor flag worth watching" vs. "this needs attention before the renewal window opens").
GAME PLAN — a prioritized action list where every action is tied to a named risk signal from Section 1. Split into: what I can do independently this week, and what requires manager or internal support.
MANAGER MESSAGE — a draft I can send to my manager. Calibrate the tone to the severity of what you found: informal heads-up for lower risk, more formal situation summary and explicit resource ask for significant risk. Always include: what's happening, what I'm already doing about it, and exactly what I need (exec intro, pricing flexibility, product escalation, etc.).
