How to connect the PandaDoc ChatGPT app

Connecting the PandaDoc ChatGPT app only takes a few minutes, and you don’t need a PandaDoc account to get started. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Find the app. Search for PandaDoc in the ChatGPT app store.

2. Connect the app. ChatGPT will prompt you to authorize the connection. If you’re an existing user, you can sign in to your PandaDoc account. If you’re a new user, you’ll be redirected to a free signup page with your email pre-filled, then returned back into ChatGPT automatically.

3. Confirm the connection. The app will tell you which workspace it's connected to and what it can access.

That’s it! The app is ready to use from the next message in the chat.

Here’s the entire walkthrough of the proposal workflow in ChatGPT. We’ll use a SaaS deal for Acme Corp as an example. 

Step 1: describe what you need

You need to enter a plain-language description of the proposal you want. Here’s what you’d type:

"Draft a proposal for a 12-month SaaS subscription for Acme Corp. We're quoting $2,400/year for up to 10 users. Use our standard software proposal template if available, or create from scratch."

The app will read the description, check the connected PandaDoc workspace for a matching template. If one exists, it populates it with your deal details. If not, it will write the proposal from scratch, including executive summary, scope, pricing, and terms, based on the description provided.  

Step 2: review and edit in the chat

The app will show a preview of the document inside a ChatGPT widget, so you can read through the document without opening PandaDoc. 

If something needs changing, like a pricing detail, a scope line, or a specific clause, you can describe the change in plain language:

"Update the contract start date to July 1st and change the payment terms to net-30."

The app will update the preview immediately. This means no more opening PandaDoc, editing, and switching back to the chat, since it’s all in one place. 

Step 3: add recipients and assign signature fields

Once the document looks right, you can add the recipient directly in the chat like this:

"Add sarah@acmecorp.com as the signer and add a signature field to the signature page."

The app adds the recipient, assigns the relevant signature and date fields, and confirms in the chat.

You can add multiple recipients and set a signing order in the same way:

"Add legal@acmecorp.com as a second signer. They should sign before Sarah."

Step 4: send and track

Now you can send it off by typing:

“Send it” or "Send the proposal now."

Then, the document will go to the recipient’s inbox as a direct signing link.

You can check on the status any time without leaving ChatGPT by typing:

"Has Acme Corp signed the proposal?" 

The app will return the current status, whether it’s been sent, opened, signed, or completed. 

To get an audit trail, you can type:

"Show me the full activity log for the Acme proposal."

In response, it will show you the full viewing and signing history.
