How to save one page of a PDF

If you want to save just one page of a PDF, there are a range of options for doing so.

These depend on which software you’re using—for example, with an in-built reader in Windows, it’s as simple as using the ‘Print to PDF’ feature.

You can take a similar approach to save a page of a PDF on Mac devices too.

However, if you’re using different document management software or a third-party PDF reader, you’ll have to rely on a separate function. (Regardless of which approach you choose, it’s also possible to save multiple specific pages of a PDF at once.)

Read on for our step-by-step guide.

How to save only one page of a PDF

Whether you want to save one part of a document after converting it from Word to PDF, would like to easily access a page in a long document, or simply keep one section of a PDF safe for later, there are lots of reasons why you might want to know how to save a single page.

Here are the main ways to do it.

Use the print tool

Probably the simplest way to save a specific page in a PDF is to use the print tool.

In Windows, this is called the ‘Print to PDF’ feature: just open your PDF, choose ‘Print’ under ‘File’, select ‘Print to PDF’, and pick the page number you want to save.

You’ll then be able to choose where you’d like that page to be stored.

This can also be done on a Mac—click ‘File’, ‘Print’, choose the relevant page number, and select the ‘Save as PDF’ option.

The best part about this is it’s free to do regardless of browser, so whether you’re using Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, it really doesn’t matter.

Use PDF editing software

Another popular option is to use PDF editing software. This is especially useful if you want to make changes to the document, perhaps by editing the text.

However, PDF editing software can sometimes be expensive—and the specific instructions for saving just one page will differ according to the particular software you use.

Use the ‘snipping tool’ function

If you’re using Windows and looking for PDF alternatives when saving your page, you might want to use the snipping tool function to store it as an image.

To do this, search for the snipping tool app in your search bar, open it, click ‘New’, and then select the part of the PDF you want to save. This will create a PNG, JPEG, or HTML file that displays the page as an image.

How to save certain pages of a PDF

Of course, saving just one page of a PDF often falls short. You might need a certain selection of pages instead, such as a chapter in a book or a section in a contract.

Fortunately, you can also save multiple pages using the print tool in both Windows and MacOS. Just choose the parts of the document you want rather than inputting a specific page.

You’ll also be able to do this in specific third-party PDF readers. However, it can be more difficult if you’re using the snipping tool. This is because you can only save what’s on your screen.
